Greetings SBOL Members!
Until recently, my girlfriend and I thought we were the last of a dying breed of Skiboarders. We were looking to finally purchase some more equipment when we discovered SBOL, The World Cup in Dubai, Revel8, Spruce etc. So we're both so happy to see Skiboarders Uniting here on this Forum and that there are actual Skiboarding companies! I’m excited to buy two 09′ Revel8 Mary Jane/Revolt boards. I'm all types of suped for the upcoming season and the newly discovered Skiboarding scene we stumbled upon online & on the East Coast of the US. Here’s the problem:
We ALMOST purchased both an Atomic 123CM and Elan 99 CM Skiboards (blade in their language) both with integrated binding systems.
The Circumstance: With both their 2008 integrated binding - I can change the 4×4 to 4×2 binding stance without tools. Nice for Powder. It’s also extremely flexible and since it’s built into the board’s core - there’s obviously ZERO room for independent movement between the binding and ski. I know the less movement between binding and ski - the better stability and more control…
However, I don’t want to buy a board from a Company who won’t even feature their skiboard products in their little Flash Website Interfaces let alone their other marketing mediums. They don’t support events, sponsor riders or help the skiboarding community in ANYWAY whatsoever.
So I’m very familiar with their tyrolia integrated binding system but there’s a scarce amount of information about the Spruce Sport, Pro-Lite & Prime Releasable Binding Systems on the web. I’ve read it all but I need an expert to help explain the benefit of using said riser bindings. The Revel8 Boards you simply can’t argue with - they’re the sh1t - but if I can’t have an integrated & releasable binding - is it worth it? And is it comparable to the new integrated binding technology found on the Big Company Products?
Not as important but anyone know much about the EXCLAIM Riser Plate - is that meant for the Spruce Releasable Systems? Probably for Non-Release but just curious. The above question is far more important. We are still deciding on what to purchase in the upcoming days. Thanks for reading my rant. I appreciate anyone's time on this!

Welcome to the forums man, glad you guys found us. I am not the master of bindings like some people(Mark,Greco), but I will explain to you what I know. I ride with nonreleaseable bindings, but have been thinking about making the switch in the next season or two. The Spruce Riser system was created to put releaseable bindings on skiboards in the 4X4 pattern. This system allows the skiboard to flex to its potential and ride/carve like a dream. It is definently worth it, the quality of spruce risers is amazing and they will last you for a longgg time.
Spruce Risers are stiffer than the Exclaim risers...which I have been told are lower to the board and not as stiff. Now depending on your riding ability, size, and weight....we can help to determine which Spruce Riser Binding system would be best for you, since they all feature different types of releaseable bindings on them.
The Pro Prime is the ultimate binding system, it is for hardcore riders who really push their boards in the park and offpiste.
The Pro Lite is pretty much equally tough, but for lighter riders.
The Sport series is the entry level binding that will perform as good as the others to a certain point, but may prerelease on big jumps.
Greco, the site owner, will be able to help you with this the most because I am not 100 percent sure which bindings would be best for you guys. I have ridden revel8 and i know they are the best boards I have ever ridden. They excel on groomers, offpiste, and in the park! Go with them, they will make you happy...with the great customer service and the great giving back to the skiboarding community
Def go with either Revel8 + spruce or Revel8 + Exclaim

Duragesic,
Welcome. I think you've already brought significant value to the forum. You have insight into products many of us have not ridden. Folks like Ty (and there are a handful of others) have ridden many different setups and understand all the science behind the products. Be careful, it won't be long before someone begins almost quoting the atomic weight differences of the materials and how that effects riding etc, etc.. For my side, I can absolutely vouch for the Spruce Pro Primes. At 6'2" and 220 lbs. I'm neither the biggest nor smallest rider but can assure you these bindings are awesome. Totally confidence inspiring, quality parts and manufacturing throughout. They take a licking, keep on ticking and once you have the DIN dialed in for your style they will never release at inappropriate time but always release when you need them to. Confidence inspiring is really the best term for them. I have 2 sets of and will be purchasing a 3rd. Of course, it's easy to swap 1 set between boards but I'm just lazy in that way. I have a history of significant lower limb injuries (I would go into detail but not sure if you've just finished eating) and trust my legs to nothing else. The Spruce Pro Prime is simply one of those "recommend to anyone" items.
i use the spruce system and revel8 skiboards. never had any issues.
I have Revolt Chickens and Pro Lite's. They're great. Just make sure you get the DIN set right and they'll treat you right.

I believe i was put on this forum to figure out the very breakin limit of products...hahaha. just to let you know, the breaking point of the sport series is right around a jump over a 60 footer landin a little back seat. but anything else i threw at them(being the cheapest of the pack, but still nasty) was no fight in regaurds to durability. nasty butters, 10 foot drops onto rails, backseats in the powder of CO, i kept em goin for 3 years before the big drop that took thier life. adjustable to the tails for pow riding and durable as all hell, but i would recomend the pro lite if you have the money.

dave you weren't using the sport series you were using the original composite riser with C509 bindings...all completely different then the sport series which will have aluminum risers and a much higher end binding.
