Hey all

Im going to Ischgl in Austria for easter this year, will stay there for about a month. The biggest ski-resort I've been to so far had a total 7 lifts. I think I've read somewhere that Ischgl has 40, but looking at a map of the whole area, it looks like there might be more. Ischgl lies right at the border between Austria and Switzerland, so close in fact, that you can catch a lift up the mountain, and ski down innto Switzerland (and get a lift from there back to Austria). This whole area will most likely be quite a shock for me, but a pleasent one.

Anywho, I was wondering If anyone here has been there. If so, could you recomend any good areas for off-piste boarding? Preferably a little steep, but not rocky :)

Allso, will I need to bring a passport or something to cross over to Switzerland (to buy cheese)? Im not sure wheter or not Switzerland is a member of the Schengen-area (where you can travel without a passport).

Any other tips are welcome too :)

i haven't been to Ischgl, but i've heard a lot of good references. you will definitely not regret it and i'm jealos for you - it's a whole month in a resort!!!
about the passports... i guess it would be lame if you had to go through passport control every time you go up or down the slope. and it would be rather impossible too i guess. and i don't remember any passport controls when entering switzerland, so it must be a schengen treaty member ;)
