I'm fairly new to the sport and look'n into purchasing a board this season. I've been skiing for 22 yrs all over the US and can handle most terrain. I mostly carve & mogul and started to play around in the parks last year. My question is: Which board would best suit my needs. And I noticed that the Canon is wider than the Line board. What would be the differences be? More stable at high speeds, faster or what?

Never ridden an M7, and I never plan to ride Line. But:
Line Fly:
Wood core (I thought they were foam but apparently not), but more for carving than for park use. Shitty, crappy, terrible salomon bindings (these I DO have experience with...they're awful).
M7:
Wood core, Can be used effectively all over the mountain, Canon Td1 bindings are pretty good I'm told, or you can get better ones put on 'em if you buy them at the right place...like...um...here.

Everyone says Canon is the best.

To sum up:
Line Sucks
+Canon is good
---------------------
= Buy the m7s!

P.S. Everyone on here will say the same thing. You just watch.

I would recommend taking the m7's over the fly's. Here are the reasons why.

- m7's 99cm vs fly's 84cm: m7s would be faster
- m7's 12.6cm wide vs fly's 11.4cm wide: more stable

I used the m7's last year and they were the smoothest ride ever, very responsive to carving.

If you want a little more detail on both check this link

Hope this helps.

Mike:
Line flys are now 90 cm and 99 cm just like the Line pro's. I don't know if M7s would be much faster, although they should have mor surface area.

J.D. mentioned it... the binding issue...hands down the M7 is the better board if not for any other reason than it uses the universal 4 hole binding mounting pattern. which, allows for more board flex and the use of non cheap plastic salomon bindings.

I wanted to throw out the possiblity of the BG pros. If you check ebay GroveUSA sells them on there and they usually go for $150.
They have:
1. universal 4-hole bindings, a must, Groove x-1s on ebay
2. wider stable base of 14.0 tip/tail
3. longer 99cm (def go with longer boards if you've skied)
4. wood core and sintered base
5. good board for all around, carves and gets good air
just check em out on here, you'd be able to get them with better bindings from here also. I was just throwing it out there. I never rode the M-7's but i hear they're the best boards around. The BG pros also got some good solid ratings to so just go with what you think would suit better. Not line fly's.
