Hey, I just have some pre-season questions:
Last season (2007-2008) I rode Salomon Snowblades (my friend gave them to me) and now I'm looking into the 2009 Revel8 Tanshos. I told my mom and she said my old ones are fine. How do I explain to her that I NEED NEW ONES!!!?? Also, how can I prepare for this season physically? I wanna try to do jumping tricks and some grinds. Last season, all I did was some jumping. I don't skate, and I don't ski. I tried these out of curiosity and loved it! I went on a black and nailed it after my 3rd trip. It was sick! Anyway, let me know soon. Thanks.

this is a direct quote from one of my skiing buddies hes a bit crazy, and a stoner
"please don't a ttempt these stunts as we are professionals, but if u do, when u fall i hope it hurts, and when it does SUCK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!
basically just be ready to take some bails and such and if u want ill post a pick of what happpens to salomon snowblades from intense usage

i think you would be better off with a longer board than the tanshos then...you will def get the most bang for your buck with a pair of bwps i think. They are great all mountain boards and would be awesome for hitting rails/the park.

I think that I would suggest BWPs or KTPs.

As far as fitness is concerned, I always try to work on my legs and my core. If you get into any serious carving you'll feel it in your quads especially. Flexibility is also very helpful. A flexible body is better able to absorb the impact of falls etc.
I'm not sure what model SnowBlades you have, so that picture above may not be appropriate. I've always thought that picture was the equivalent of a car manufacturer comparing a competitors econobox with their sports car. The SB10 model that Solamon produced was actually pretty decent. I remember seeing a picture of it next to a KTP, and the difference was not as pronounced as I would have guessed. However, I do think that in general Snowblades are inferior to anything that is available from SBOL. The quality overall is different, and therefore the safety of the rider is different. I personally think that the safety issue is a good point to make. True skiboards are much more reliable than any of the Solamon versions. Plus you can look at it as a good investment in that the R8, Allz, Lacroix, and Spruce boards will all last for many years.
Board-wise, I think that the Tanshoes would be fine for you. I'm 6 inches taller and 50lbs heavier than you, and I really enjoy riding 90's. The BWP's or KTP's will give you more surface area to work with, and the KTP's are realy solid for landing jumps. However, you don't necessarily need that depending on your abilities. Basically, if you really like the Tanshoes, I see no reason for you to not go with them. For my size, the ALP's would probably be better than the Revolts, but I loved the look of EMP's, so I went with them. I have't regreted it yet, and like I said I often ride on 90's.
The SnowJam Beach 130's aren't something I'd recommend. They aren't a good representation of skiboards and are much closer to small twintip skies.

you would be best off with either some revel8, lacroix, spruce, or allz boards than those zuma 130s.

BWP's all the way for you! or KTP's now that I think about it, but I'm still thinking BWP's!
