Revel 8 boards are , like most skis and snowboards sold in the US , made in the far east . they are very durable and Greco has superb customer service and stands by his product 100% .

Mix skiboards were made in the USA btw

And they had a lot more problems with durability then Revel 8 boards . ! So USA manufacturing does not guarantee great products... for sure ...

word, and they were probly the worst manufactured skiboards ever. Revel8 may be made in China or somefar east country......they are still the most durable and well made skiboards right now!!!

This one can have a number of different fronts. People often wrongly associate the quality of a product with where it is manufactured. That simply is not the case. Any contract has quantitative and qualitative requirements. It is the responsibility of the customer (in this case the entity receiving the manufactured goods) to perform appropriate inspection on the goods before closing the contract and paying. Often, QA is written into a contract with some type of 3rd party QA inspection performed. If a product does not meet standards it is rejected and no payment is received. China has everything from the lowest brow rip-off/copy manufacturers producing with essentially no standards of materials used and no standards of conformity to world class, highest possible standards facilities. If you've purchased crap don't blame where it is manufactured - blame the entity that accepted the quality of the item. They are the ones profiting from the sale to you. China already got its money. Things are often manufactured in China because of reduced cost of production - not reduced quality. Now, the way that lower cost is achieved can be cause for concern. Everything from human to environmental factors come into play. These points could be debated endlessly.

Agreed. The Chinese can and do manufacture at stunning quality and price everything from skiboards to orchestral instruments and beyond. If you base your manufacturing out there then you can basically choose the output quality that matches how much you want to spend (or vice versa).

Country of manufacture shouldn't trouble you too much unless a) you want to only buy goods made in your own country for patriot reasons or b) you disagree with China's general policy of sacrificing the wellfare of its own people to feed their economy.

There's been almost a Stalin-esque focus on "progress" over there. Its been proven to work many times in history, but the cost is pretty disgusting. Although its easy to say that about economy and issues like the development of nuclear weapons when you come from countries that have already made their "progress".

Rink, it seems to be an inescapeable progression. Here in the UK, people and the environment suffered beyond belief in the name of progress during our Industrial Revolution. That makes it tough for us to criticise other countries coming up the same ladder. Actually, our Govt., consisting mainly of Chimps, still treats us like fools :-)
BTW. Apologies to Chimps...................

Yeah, that's what I mean. You can only complain so much about countries doing the same things we did.

Traditionally, I would have said that we should help developing countries so that they don't have to make such severe sacrifices - although at the minute I don't think that would be good plan when plenty of our own people are feeling the strain on the pockets.
