Christmas is coming and im hoping to pick out a new pair of boards that i can use the rest of my skiing days. I dont want to go too short for the sake of being able to use them in the future. I liked the ALLZ but after seeing some of the twin tippers in the park i am also considering getting longer boards like cities, KTPS, or BWPs. This is pretty much the longest i want to go for now because the crap ive been riding is 75 cm. Price is an issue too. I am bout 6 foot and 130-140.

Can anyone give me some input...ive been thinking for a long time and i switched ideas from bantams, then tanshos, then Allz, then idk what...lol. Help would be appreciated.

PS: My home mountains get little natural powder and are generally icey. I also LOVE the park.

Thanks all

Really, any of those would be great. The KTPs are quite appealing to me, personally I have a pair of Revolts and love them, great in all conditions with plenty of stability. I'm 6'1" 165lb.

for you i really think your height/weight make you a good candidate for rumspringas....the 103 is the perfect length for you and the width will be good for someone of you weight not riding alot of powder.

If not you could either go longer to 105 revolts(which i love, but may be wide for you) or BWPs at 98 which may be a bit onthe short side but otherwise perfect.

For You I Say
1)Rumspringas
2)BWPs
3)Revolts
4)KTPs

I list KTPs lower because i think at your weight, you may have a little more trouble with the width.

ok so pretty much the heavier you are generally u need wider boards?

Like i said cost is an issue... ill probably get groove bindings new unless i can find a good used pair for cheap. Should groove be good or should i take the hit. After all what ive been riding is JUNK.

ALLZ are too short then?

Really, too short wouldn't be accurate, you could have (and probably have had, since you're coming back for more) fun on 75cm boards even. You wouldn't have as enjoyable a time on steeps, jumps, or powder.

The Allz would be more versatile and let you have fun on a wider range of terrain, with more float (to keep you from sinking in powder) and more stability (to help land jumps, and at high speeds) If you're especially liking the look of the Allz, go for them, people here who have them will attest for their quality.

A slightly longer board will provide even more float and stability. The trade-off as you go up in length, and the reason we don't all ride 130cm Sherpas or even full length skis, is that you lose something in maneuverability and agility as you go up in length.

So, you have to make the decision at where you want to find the compromise. You'll never know exactly the perfect board for your tastes unless you can ride them all. This isn't a realistic situation at the moment, so you'll just need to take a guess. You'll have fun no matter what. If cost is a major issue I'd take a shot at getting a pair of boards from Dcox here (http://www.skiboardsonline.com/vbulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=6649) Like Ty said, the Bwp, Ktp, or Revolt (Emp) would all be good options. If you can afford it go ahead and buy from Greco, he'll support you 100%

While DCOX's sale is nice.....id wait to see the new boards in person because greco said he was told they were the best boards yet....and that is saying alot

Bindings seem to be getting more scarce everyday. I wouldn't suggest cheaping out on bindings. also I have never ridden the Groove bindings so if anyone else has, then please chime in.

I haven't used the Groove bindings, but I have handled them. Compared to the SJX2's, they have a more solid base and bigger sole blocks, but the bails feel a bit more spindly.

In the boards department, I'm going to suggest the BWP's, Allz, or Revolts. I think the BWP's will be your best bet with plenty of length and enough width to get you through slight powder. Since you're looking at the lower binding options, I'm hesitant to suggest the KTP's. It's hard to adequately put into words how much of a difference there is between bindings when it comes to overall feel. I think this is especially true when dealing with modern wide-bodied skiboards. If you decide to go with the KTP's or Revolts, then I highly recommend upgrading to Bombers or looking for some FF Pros. The extra height and stiffness will make a big difference I think.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but do you think 130-140lbs is too light for the KTPs then? That's about my weight and I was considering buying some to use in powder conditions (I currently ride BWPs).

I don't think you can say 100% one way or the other, because experience plays a big part in this. Since you're coming from BWP's, I think that you'd have an easier time adjusting. Also, if you're going to be using them specifically for powder, I think you'd be ok with the width. The weight plays more of a role when carving is involved. I think being heavier helps to pull the boards up on edge.

So im still thinking Allz with grooves

I think that would be a fine combo for you. From what I've read, the Allz boards are really nice, and I think they'll be a good step up for you. Plus, they are't so wide that the Grooves won't be stiff enough to control them.

Which color are you looking at?

I've rode 90cm boards with Groove alum bindings for years (about 8) now. The bindings have been as solid as a rock for me. Literally adjusted for my boot when I first got them and never touched them again. Year after year no problems to report.

I have however placed an order to replace my entire setup. KTPs with Bomber Elite2. Not that I'm giving up on the Grooves, just want something new and a full working backup/loaner setup.

Im thinkin about getting the new Allz boards with black grooves. Maybe bindings from the garage sale
