View Full Version : Are my release bindings set up correctly?

I'm in Whistler at the moment, the snow is coming down, and everything is very good indeed. I'm riding Exclaim! 99cm Titanals, and my wife is on a pair of Mary Jane's. I'll post reviews of everything when I'm back in the UK, as I'm on rubbish hotel wifi at the moment.
I do have a quick question about the release bindings on the boards, though. Both setups have Rossi release bindings (rossi 100's, if I remember right). Everything is nice and tight, with no movement whatsoever, except the sliding heel piece, which can rocker slightly from side to side.
All four heel pieces do this, which makes me think that it's 100% fine. However, I don't remember release bindings having any movement in tnem at all.
Is this okay? And can I do anything about it?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks all

There should not be a lot of motion in the rear heel piece , one of the problems may be the forward pressure adjustment ..
which is a critcal piece about making sure the bindings are correctly adjusted.
read this page from Spruce ski about the Rossi 110 bindings and how to adjust the forward pressure on the rear heel piece

Scribbler, I don't know if this will help but, I have last years model of the exclaim risers with the rossi bindings. When my boots are not in the binding, I can wiggle the heel piece a little with my hands but when my boots are clipped in there is no movemment.

Scribbler,

I hope Whistler is treating you well.

I recommend that you take your boards into one of teh many repair shops with your boots one evening and have the staff check the bindings to put your mind at ease.

Let us know how the trip goes.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I'm pretty sure I've set the bindings up correctly - it's only when the boots are out of the bindings that I can rocker the heel piece slightly. A ski tech seemed to think it was fine, I'm assuming he knew what he was talking about.
Doesn't seem to be a problem when the boots are in, I just wanted to make sure I hadn't made a mistake so basic that is wasn't even in the manual...

I'll post some more when I'm not on such heinous wifi.

Thanks all

P.S. I've seen one other skiboarder the whole time I was here - he must have been on 90-99cm boards, which faded from an orangy-colour at the tips to a green at the tails. Anyone know what the boards might have been?

I only saw them from a Chair, but it could well have been.
