Well guys, it looks like here in the near future I'll actually be able to comfortably spend money again. I've spent the last few months discussing past earnings with IRS and it looks like they're going to be pulling their microscope out of my backside within the month. We now seem to be getting along over what was sometimes different views of the past 7 years.
I'll be grabbing a set of new Spruce Pro Primes first but there should be little reason why I can't do a little congratulatory spending spree. I seem to have been bitten by the park bug. So, while many know me on the forum my height is 6'2", I weigh about 220lbs and want to be able to use the boards in both the park and pipe with releasable bindings. I expect I'll do much more in the way of kickers, double jumps and boxes and fewer rails (I like my teeth) in the park and in the pipe I'll be satisfied to catch 3 feet off the wall, turn it over and glide back down to another 3 foot turn over.

Val is spot on. You'll love the KTPs in the park. In case you didn't read my last rambling rant, I gave them their first solid try in the park and they were absolutely perfect for my park riding needs at 6'1" 200lbs.

Hey Ty , which version of the Alp do you have ? I have the original softest version ... how do you compare them to the Revolt city which I think you really liked ? is the extra length noticeble to you in stability over the Revolts ?
just curious .. I have never gotten the Revolts because I thought they would be quite similar to the ALPs

Ty,
I'm always open to opinions from you. Any thoughts/comparisons of the Alps vs KTP's?
EmptiMind and GoHammer92,
Of course I'll buy KTP's for you guys. Drop me a PM with your credit card information and delivery addresses and I'll get that done for you. Hell, I'll be doing it anyway so no big deal. It's always a pleasure to be of value. Let me know which card I should charge my new KTP travel bag to and we are there.

Guys,
I'm going to go with the KTP's. I like both jjue's "fat shoe" comment and SkaFreak's recommendation. So, the final question would be do I go 2008 or 2009. Am I correct that the 2009's have more flex? If so, I think I'd lean towards the stiffer 2008's just because of my displacement. Final thoughts anyone?

Mahatma , defintely go with the 2008 stiffer version , Kirk in another thread recommends the stiffer version for anyone over 185lbs.. both Ska freak and myself are heavier guys and according to my recollection so are you :)!
I want to see Mahatma try one of those double backflips.

Mahatma, its my understanding the construction of the tips is different on the 09, which makes them feel softer in the hand, but the actual bit on the snow that does the work is the same, so unless Greco says different, go with your favourite graphic. Personally, I would prefer the softer tips as they should help such a short(?) board deal with chop. You ABSOLUTELY must post how you got on with it all. I understand they have internet in hospital wards these days :-)

Well it looks like your mind is made up, but I wouldn't feel right not adding my 2 cents. I haven't riden the KTP's but I noticed the ALP's are a lot easier for landing jumps than the Titanal 99's I rode last year. food for thought
you want last years KTP for sure.

Thanks guys. I can't tell you how much I value all of your input. This set of boards is going to be dedicated park. I'm just totally wound up over the love the park gave me at Kagura and the lasting impression it left. I want to go with a smaller board to use as training wheels. The end game will be to do the park on 120's. But, I want a smaller (easier) platform on which to learn form and hopefully lessen the abuse taken by failure. I was surprised at how the Sherpa's allowed me to become an entry level wave jumper in the space of an afternoon and this past Saturday had just a total blast teaching myself what is no doubt second nature to the vast majority of you - doing ground 180's/360's and more importantly skiboarding fakie. My butt muscles killed me on Sunday from riding fakie so much. So, while this aging guy will never be a park star my goal is to enjoy my friend in all respects. So, catching some "old man air" off of kickers, maybe doing whatever an in air 180/360 on the waves is called, buttering boxes and rest assured - going inverted before it's all said and done isn't so shabby. Also, there is no doubt I'll not rest until the 120's work the pipe. That is what I want to use the park boards for - to get all this moving. I want to do something on the park boards for say a few hours and then pull out the 120's and work them. That's the plan. All that said, I tend to move at a conservative pace. I'm in no rush. I'll talk it over each day with my friend and see what he wants to do. All about increasing the love and I'm stoked. Another dimension. Man, I love skiboarding.

Valmorel,
I'll certainly talk to Greco here in a few hours when he opens shop. I'm hoping a visit to the infirmary can be avoided but if it happens it's certainly good to know I'll be able to order even more skiboard equipment while I'm there. Ha ha

Double back flip? You guys want to see that dusty, old thing? Ha ha. Honestly guys, I'll be very pleased to simply do the basics with style of course. It should really increase my confidence and pleasure on the mountain as a whole and if I'm lucky I'll be able to turn on a few other old men who like me, spent time in the park as a side affect of wanting to put in quality time with their kids. I see it on a pretty regular basis. A dad desperately trying to slide across a row of boxes or not kill himself catching more than 6 inches of air off a little kicker or wave. Unfortunately, I never see moms. I certainly see girls in the park but it is overwhelmingly boys. More females need to do the park. I won't be any help in that way but if I can be just reasonably stylish doing basic stuff I again should greatly increase my confidence in places like steep, heavy crud (what's a little air - lets get it on), big, fluffy moguls and generically allow me to enjoy the groom more much like we all see young snowboarders launching off absolutely everything on the groom. We should not be afraid to look around us and see how others enjoy the mountain and then bring our own, unique, skiboarder style to those activities. Plus again, I do believe a dad or 2 will become curious when they see another guy running full force towards social security not only surviving an afternoon with his son but actually doing OK with it. There could be a rush on KTP's delivered to Japan. Ha ha. A little over the top on that one? Probably right. The pipe is purely personal. It's just something I want to do and check off the list. No one is going to fault an old man for only catching a few feet out of the pipe. Sometimes age has its' benefits. Not usually mind you but every once in awhile.
