View Full Version : recieved my SHERPA!
WOW! this thing is a beauty:D i got one question for the sherpa owners, do you guys detune the tips and tails on them? i will try them out tomorrow but probably not as hard as i want cuz i will be with my daugther and i'm teaching her to skiboard(second time up):) but i will try to anyways while she is in the lounge resting:D thanks guys.
I sure am being tempted by everything being said about the Sherpas. Let us know how they work out for you.
Nope , no detuning , sharpening edges or anything .. I have two pairs of Sherpa , they were perfect out of the box ! absoulutely , a joyous ride from the beginning . . no catchy edges , perfect edge hold ...
thanks jjue, i really need to know that tonight cuz i'm taking it out for a test run tomorrow with my daugther. so please ignore my other same question i posted out today. can always count on you jjue:) and everyone else that responds to any questions i've asked. i'll post a review as soon as i can. thanks again. did you say you have two sherpas?? wow! you really like them a lot huh?!.
Speaking of the Sherpa , was out on it myself today , and more and more I am realizing that this is really something special for the skiboarding world .
I originally really approached the Sherpa like a short ski , then with the help of Skafreaks vids , I really began approaching the Sherpa like a center mount skiboard.. ridden exactly like I ride my KTP or my Alp ... and things clicked majorily ... as a skier I really had a hard time getting rid of my poles in technical terrrain , but now they seem more of a hinderance rather than a help ..
Alpine meadows today , all kinds of steep lines, dust on ice, broken deep pow off piste and beyound the boundaries , moguls , chutes, and just goofing around with family on easy groomers.. all without poles ,
I think that El Slurpo says that the Sherpa even has a fun easy side to the beast .. and the more I play with it , the more I am finding that too....
The most amazing thing about the Sherpa is that I feel like I am riding something remarkable .. it does absolutely turn and rides like a skiboard.. and not like twin tip skis , BUT , it has just totally amazing stability , I just hit all kinds of broken choppy terrain and every thing is just smoothed out , the platform just seems like the most amazingly stable and yet most manuverable snow sliding thing I have absolutely ever ridden . It has taken me a while to become a better pilot .. I am constantly learning to trust the Sherpa to do things that I could absolutely not do on any of the other snow sliding stuff I have ridden . You know drop a steep narrow pow chute into a mix of ice and sloughed snow , make an amazingly sharp turn , right between two narrow trees , avoiding a boulder and on and on . I expect to be thrown off balance or crash , or face plant or slide and from the center of this amazing skiboard ... I am just THERE ready for whatever is next ... What was once a massive and big feeling thing , constantly is shrinking for me and become easier and more fun to pilot and becoming more like my smaller skiboards... an amazing transformation for sure !
Can't get enough , of course, tomorrow , bright and early on my backcountry sherpa with my buddies in search of more untracked stuff and more adventure in the solitude away from the resorts.. ....
can't wait !

You are becoming a one board guy jjue. Never been such times :-). Will bring my Sherpas to Shredfest for lessons............

that would be the exact feeling i would want to get from the sherpa, although i only have ridden the 120 on those type of trails, the sherpa might be the answer i'm looking for to really enjoy these type of runs. i want the same feeling i had plus more when i was actually cruising thru them and reach the bottom with a big freaking smile on my face like this:D
