View Full Version : buyer beware of destroyed tanshos
So everyone probably remembers this post: http://www.skiboardsonline.com/vbulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=6915
I thought I'd throw this up to make sure no one here makes a bad mistake. I could be wrong here but it looks like our old friend glassblower is selling his tanshos that he destroyed.

The post says he's switching to snowboarding, which he said in the other post and I noticed the blue carpet in both pictures, also, his location in both posts shows as Mass. Could be a coincidence but in any case if you were thinking of getting these be careful.

I can't believe they are now trashed. When I sold them to him, they were mint. What do you do on boards to get them in this condition???

BTW if everybody takes a look at the ad and marks it as 'prohibited' it will be taken down.

The community here is reminding me more and more of the good side of TGR without the crap. There have been two things lately over on TGR, one was some skis stolen from a disabled rider in a sitski that frequented TGR and was headed to the X-Games, and the other was a guy who had scammed a few of the riders in the buy/sell section. In both instances the community saw there was something wrong and banded together. The stolen skis were found and returned, and the scammer has been confronted several times in person and has been made to feel quite uncomfortable visiting several mountains. It's things like these that show that you are in a community that really looks out for everyone involved.

I saw the sitski saga unfold over at TGR... that entire thing should be recreated for a TV miniseries.
Love that guy's motto: DIE LIVING

Man, what a shame. The skiboarding community is one "subculture" (if you will) that Im proud to be part of, because of the strong sense of trust and community, and its terrible that anyone would try to violate that.

One can only hope that having an item removed from Craig's list after being reported somehow gives them a black mark so it is more difficult for them to try that again.
Actually, I still don't get what that guy's end game was. I mean he got his complaint as it were out of the way, certainly wanted no help in resolving the so called situation, just abused and belittled the forum with his postings, was essentially told to leave and then more or less blatantly throws up destroyed equipment (sans photo of course) onto Craig's list.
Real bright one there.
Not to take hes side at all. Hes have been acting like a child, well worse maybe.
But there might be something about the 06 tanshos. The sidewalls might be a bit brittle. My tanshos with black walls have done the same thing. I bought them from a well known member on this forum, and received them with a broken sidewall, looking very similer to the damage done to thoose boards. I guess it happened to my boards doring shipping overseas. Because i cant imagine the seller, selling me broken boards. First i though it was just a small thear (not broken) but after riding them, the broken piece of sidewall was pushed out. I can take pictures if it has any interest. I have tried to glue it all together with polyuretan furniture glue. It should withstand the flex and moisture. I hope it will work out, but havnt tried ride them after the fixup.
I feel kind of sad that this should be my first experience with revel8 boards, but i havnt givin up :) i planning on purchasing a set of 09 BWP when i have a little money. Until them i have to ride a couple of 85 Gaspos :(

luE,
Totally appropriate post. You are in no way taking the other guy's side by reporting your own experience. Send SBOL an E-mail - they might be able to help in some way. Word on the street is Greco basically invented world class customer service.
