I went up to Pennsylvania last week and when I got to the rentals I asked for skiboards. The lady said "ski blades?" and I said, "no, the longer ones" so she went and got me a pair of what I think were skiboards. What do you think? They were 120-130cm, shaped in the middle, and had tips on both ends. I am 5'11"

Ski rental shops often have Salomon Crossmax skis in stock, which would be 'a bit longer' than the Salomon Snowblades.
Could it have been a pair of THESE?

They're 120cm long, twintip, and have a parabolic shape.
They're also foam core, plastic-y and made by Salomon, so (if they were Crossmax), they aren't really proper skiboards.
Obviously, I might be wrong, and the shop might have rented you proper boards. But if they only knew about snowblades, that's a bit doubtful.

The local mountains (Ski Liberty, Whitetail, Roundtop) have started renting 120-130cm twins.
Releasable bindings, nearly center mount, made by Rossignol I think.
Very skiboarder-ish. But not quite.

I've yet to go to a mountain whose rental staff know what skiboards are. Before I acquired my collection of boards, I'd ask to rent for others. I'd always get "snowblades?" or "you means skiblades?" I didn't bother trying to correct them. I'd just go with it.

Rental shops are clueless for the most part. My friend was renting boots to use my skiboards and when the rental shop guy asked what they were being used in he said "skiboards" the rental shop guy then went on to say "skates?" what?!
Basically if it was 120 - 130 it probably wasn't a skiboard.

Hah, any of the mountains up here have crap boots. Sometimes you can find them with a walk mode, just leave that on if you want to rent. I had to rent for a while, my boots were done for, and I didn't have replacements yet.
I'm educating my local staff on skiboards. Handed out a good deal of cards to them.

rental shops ive been to are depressing.
they dont like the nonrelease "archaic clip binding" <-- actual quote.
and lucky you empti, the staff at gstock isn't pleasant.
especially the park staff, bunch of college kids on snowboards.
i say "good morning" and they glare at me. its a sweet time.

Do something that impresses the hell out of them, and they'll start asking questions. Or try and pull something off that'll impress the hell out of them. Fail miserably, but make the crash magnificent. You get respect for that as well.
