Tahoe Shredfest DVD Pics and Vid Clips

K ... so here's the skinny on a shredfest DVD, video clips, pictures and
what not ...

I'm going to compile all the photos and video clips I can get my hands on from this trip and put together a commemorative DVD. I will send copies of the DVD out to anyone and everyone who would like one (no charge). If you have no photos or clips to contribute, but want a copy of the finished DVD ... no problem. Just email me with your info so I can get one sent out to you.

I need lots more footage though. I only have a few stills and a few video clips. If you have photos and vid clips you'd like to see included on the DVD, email me at: xhilr8@hotmail.com or epicendeavors@gmail.com

I will reply with my home address so you can send me a CD or some other media with your clips and photos on it. When I'm all done, I'll send you a completed DVD and your original disk back.

The program I use will take just about any format (avi, mpeg, jpeg, raw, tiff, giff, wmv, etc) The only format I cannot work with is avchd. So if you have any video clips saved in that format, you'd have to convert them before I could work with them.

The more clips and pics I get, the better I can put something together.

Great idea, thanks for putting this together...do you or anyone else know who has the group photo taken Sunday am at Kirkwood in front of lodge building? I imagine that was the most complete group picture of the lot.

BTW, Carolyn and I really enjoyed meeting and riding with you. Maybe one day we'll make it up to your part of the country (we talk about it every year but so far it's just been talk!).

I don't know who has the Kirkwood shot. Hopefully, they will view this thread and submit it though for inclusion in the DVD. If someone sends it in to me, I will certainly let you know. Most likely, I'll ensure the best still shots and video clips get sent out to everyone as separate files as well as being included in the DVD. That way, everyone will have some high res versions to do other things with if they choose. Just ensure you email me so I can get stuff out to you.

Would be awesome to have you out here at Mt. Hood one of these days. Others from Shredfest have indicated an interest in coming out as well. It might be a good area for next year's shredfest. Mt. Hood has 4 ski areas on it (all within just a few miles of each other), Mt. Bachelor is only a couple hours away, and White Pass is only a couple hours away. Lots of terrain to choose from and there will be some of us who know the areas well enough to serve as rookie guides. RGZIP rides White Pass all the time and he seems to know that mountain well.

There's also some hikable backcountry for JJUE and anybody wanting to follow him. :cool:

once you have the DVD completed you can make a .iso file of the dvd and then make a torrent which would be an easy way for people to download it and burn it themselves? just pointing that out.

Sorry guys ... :o I am a slow, no follow-through slacker.

Just got way too interested in backpacking, climbing and kayaking season this year. Also had some extra work going on for some training I'm delivering to make some extra cash on the side. Video edits are done ... everything is there. Just laying down some tunes to go with it.

At this rate, yes ... delivery by Shredfest 2010 should be very doable. :D

Actually, I only have one pack trip and one river trip left this season and then I'll have all kinds of downtime till the snow hits again in late November / early December. Will definitely get it done by September ... ish.

Actually it is all done now ... I'm gonna go ahead and burn some disks this weekend then get a hold of everyone who may want one. I'll be happy to ship out. Will also look into doing the torrent thing. Never messed with that.

The video is amateur, but I've made a few before with Pinnacle so it doesn't totally suck. :D

Once again my apologies to everyone for taking so long to get this done. I've just had a very busy and activity filled summer: 3 backpack trips, about a dozen day hikes, jet skiing a few times, whitewater trip down hells canyon, and then working and also teaching some classes on the side.

Have not pre-ordered yet, but I intend to. With as much as I like that fat boy ride on the KTPs, the Condors seem like a great board for me.

Just dropped dough for my own inflatable kayak and gear so I gotta make sure there's money left in the kitty first.

BTW: you mentioned that some of the formats were a problem. Let us know what works best and we can try and accommodate at Shredfest 2.

Thanks ya'll ... appreciate the kind words.

Would be happy to do it again next year. I'm sure it will be much easier now that I've got my hardware problems straightened out and now that I've learned what I need to do to work around file size issues that bog down the process.

I intend to get the new version of Pinnacle so I don't have to worry about the format compatability issues. That way, if anyone gets footage in "AVCHD" high definition, I will be able to work with it.

I think the only format that still may be an issue with Pinnacle is WMV (windows media video). All the prior versions of Pinnacle that I've used don't like wmv. Not sure if that is still an issue with the latest / greatest edition, but I like Pinnacle ... it is easy to work with and very intuitive for non-computer techy people like me. :D
I do have a freeware application now that converts wmv to avi, but that does create large / bloated files for some reason. I've learned that can snag things up, but now that I've finagled a work around, it should not be as much of a problem next year.

Parts 3 through 4 should be up on youtube by the end of the weekend or so.

CAN, we are having a miserable snow storm right now that started mid day yesterday. Expecting 4 to 8 inches, only about an inch so far. Dangerous road condition since we are hovering around freezing, a few lives lost already on the highways. Not a good situation since it is our thanks giving long weekend here in Canada.

We got some snow up here in Oregon, but it all burned off pretty quickly. Palmer glacier on Mt. Hood at Timberline is still closed, but hopefully will open up in the next couple weeks.

Glad you enjoyed it. Could have been better ... some of the vid clips were a little rough, but it came together fairly well. I'm sure I'll be able to do a better job next year now that I have fixed a lot of my computer issues.

Copy that on the footage. I dropped some dough this last summer on a good compact video camera. This year's shredfest I'm definitely going to be paying more attention to getting some good shots.
