Ok, so possibly not a super newbie Q, but I felt funny posting this somewhere else. I've been trying to figure out how to carve while ride fakie. It occurred to me this morning that I don't think I've actually ever seen anyone do it, in person or in a video. Is it even possible? I was sort of assuming it is since I know inline skaters can do backwards slalom turns, but maybe it doesn't carry over. If it is possible, anyone got any pointers? Thanks guys...

I do it....not super fast yet but ...you can. The hardest part for me is looking to see where i'm going and trying to keep my weight adjusted right. It's hard to explain but you sort of have to pay attention to how you carve going forward and then apply it going in reverse remembering to keep your weight forward(uphill). I don't know like I said it's hard to explain but I am realizing it is much easier going a bit faster. It's way fun to do though. Just go slower at first untill you can make clean turns and then gradually go faster.Hope that helped you a bit.

alot of us ride just as fast backwards as forwards, just overcome the fact that you are going backwards, it starts to feel normal after awhile. just do the exact oppistie of what you do going forwards

start doing that slowly, and rdie as much as possible fakie, but slowly, then you will feel sumtin better, nex time ride fakie again , but little bit faster, make faster turns, BUT, liek i done it, just ride very often, ..so, rdie fakie much, then you will feel it very good! ;)

When carving forward, we normally keep the two boards side by side, but when carving fakie it works a little better to move one board (the downhill or outside one) slightly in front of the other.

I was just glancing in here cause I've had some problems doing just about anything fakie except for a wedge stop. I seem to have a problem when I try to put one board farther out than the other. Any ideas what this could be caused by? (ie. boots too stiff, just something you have to get used to, etc.)

it takes awhile to get used to.

It isnt especially hard to do...... Im really new to boarding so can only do it really slowly but I find the biggest trouble is having the confidence to avoid just ending up pointing straight down the hill again!

But what makes it realy interesting is making backword jumps... pretty scaring at the beginning, but you soon get the hang of it :)

normally when you want to carve to the right, you use your right foot mainly..and carving left, mainly left foot. Its easier to carve fakie with the opposite foot of the way you want to turn (want to turn right, use mainly the right foot..and vice versa..) This is just how i do it and it works for me.

well, i dont ride with my feet even ever. if im carving to the left my left foots in front a tad and if im carving to the right my right foots out, i just do the same with fakie riding, except for going around sharp corners, then i tend to use my outside foot, weird.
