Thanks pinkkid.

My only known conflicts would be with other skiboarding events. From what Hershel said, the US Open will be the same time next year, so early March doesn't work for me. As for the Jay Jam, I'm just kinda assuming that it'll be around the same time, so early February is also out for me.

So far Feb 27th weekend/week is margianlly ahead.
keep voting, remember you can pick more than one date, just have to vote them all at one time; can't go back and re vote.
Be thinking of accomodations... big cabin or two for everyone? Block rooms at a place or two? Condo's?
You have oodles of time!
Gonna be sweet, especially for those going on Jack's trek!

While I can't say that I can make it, I would love to. And if I win the lottery and get enough cash to do some stuff I will gladly make a trip out. I don't honestly know that all the dates will work for me at this point I will do my best to make them work if I have the money.

Wanna keep this alive since Pinkkid has stepped out for a bit.
Had a blast this last year and definitely want to do Shredfest 2010.
By the way ... still working on the 09 DVD. Had a lot of distractions that have kept me from finishing it up. Also had to blow the plans to head down to Cali this Summer to see CAN, 93Pony and others. Will have to wait till Shredfest to see you guys again, I guess.
Looks like February 27th through March 6th at Tahoe will be the location and time of Shredfest II . Looks like these dates won out . For Variety I was thinking of switching the order this year . Plan will be to start out this time in North Tahoe for the first half Big resorts will be Squaw , Alpine , Northstar , Sugar bowl and then move to South Tahoe for the 2nd half ..
Heavenly , Kirkwood , Sierra at Tahoe . If the weather cooperates and snow conditions are good , will plan on possibly two backcountry trips first one will be in the Castle peak area in north tahoe .. this trip will require some previous experience with descent in off piste backcountry type snow conditions . . the second backcountry trip will be in the South Tahoe area out of an area called Forestdale divide near Kirkwood. This trip will be suitable for everyone including folks who just want to snowshoe on the flat .. as the trip will involve snowshoeing across the flats and then making a little day camp at the base of a moderate hill , and folks can just hang around the base camp on the flats or go up gentle or steeper slopes around a meadow. Those folks not going backcountry will be going to one of the resorts on those days .. More info to come ..

Ill even hopefully be able to take out the kite and do some Show-n-tell style snowkiting Demos for people if interested..
Hi Jack,
We are still in school that week(3 weeks before spring break) so we can only take 3 days off. We have to decide whether to take the first half or second off. Since the Beginners snowshoe thing is at the end, I think we'll be joining you at the later part of the week, unless the South Tahoe part gets moved to the front of the weeks like before. We are excited>Cindy wants to use the Chickens(Thanks Shelley)

Welcome! Which resorts you gius wanting to do?
Can , let's see if other folks can only make part of the time and what resorts they prefer and we can always move the north and south around .. the easier backcountry option is near south tahoe near kirkwood. .. and should be coordinated with the south tahoe resorts.
Do you and cindy have an idea of which dates you prefer to come ? anyone else only able to come part of the time and if so which dates ?
eh,
I suggest that we re-vote the dates since some may have different preferences now that we are getting closer to the big event and other event schedules are being posted. Then the north verses south sequence can be worked out.
Hi Jack,
We don't really care. We will probably want to come when the group is on the South side. We will take off Mon, Tues, Wed or Wed, Thurs, Fri. We wanted to get in three days of skiboarding with you all rather than two like last year. Either way Wed would be a driving day for us. Any more than three days especially with Spring break coming up , and our school districts would frown. See what most of the group can do and we are cool with that.
P.S. I got the longboard and love it. I will take some pics, maybe video with the new Iphone.
Chad
Sorry you couldn't make it down Robert. We had a busy Summer too. Can't wait ti shred with ya in Tahoe!

lots of folks are away from the message board now and I do kind of want to pin the dates down as some of the better deals on room rates etc in tahoe can be gotten in summer booking for the next winter season , ...
if anyone wishes to change their vote .. just post in this thread and i will change the total count to reflect that and see if the date should change ...

I'm in for the full week next year ... just gotta make sure I'm not too fat/nasty out of shape and that my legs can hang with 5 or 6 days of riding in a row.
Dates matter not for me. I can come down whenever is best for everyone else.

pretty cheap motels in reno , tahoe city and south lake tahoe . for lodging ,
resort costs are hard to reduce but there are some discounts availabe through rei etc... or just come for the 2nd half and do two days of backcountry and one day of resort ...

I totally just realized that my earlier post is wrong. This semester I have no Friday classes, next semester I may. Even so, I will try to make it up at least for the backcountry day, if not more. It all depends on my classes. Either way, I do already have a shovel, probe, and avalung pack, so only piece of gear I'm missing is the beacon.
EmptiMind
07-24-2009, 02:39 AM
I have a shovel and easy access to a beacon. Been thinking about picking up an avalung whenever I find the cash. Ugh. Lottery, all I need. Be so happy. I'd be in NZ before the end of the month.

Suggested websites in Truckee for condos?
Still not sure if we can make it but I am trying for at least the start of the week (Sat - Tues?)

Would love to cut costs.
Let me know.
Hi Robert,
Cindy and I would love to share a condo with you. Looking at the agenda, we would probably be attending the Northern Tahoe part Saturday through Tuesday nights and drive home on Wednesday. I have also looked into the lodging and found it to be a bit pricier than South Lake Tahoe. Even something similar to the condo Jack had last year in South Lake Tahoe would be great. Maybe we can both start looking for accomodations. If Sean and Heather or anyone else want to join in also we are great with that too.

A couple of passports to renew and we are set!
Hi all,
I had a little time on my hands and I found this North Tahoe interchangeable lift ticket. It is good at any of 7 North Lake Tahoe Ski resorts- Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Sugar Bowl all are in it. With this you can get a day of skiing for $66.00 at any place. I like the flexibility. Is this a good deal ? Anyone can pipe in. Last year I found two for ones through Zumiez for Heavenly, and Dave Cox got us a deal at Kirkwood. I hate paying full price for a lift ticket so I make it a game to get the best deal. Here is the site address:

Depends on what this season prices are for rack rate lift tickets
For the resorts we will go to in north tahoe . .
Alpine meadows ( not announced , last year was 65 I think )
Northstar 79 dollars
Squaw ( not annouced ) , probably around 75 dollars
Sugar bowl 66 dollars
so if you get a 4 pack for 66 dollars a head . you probably will save some money especially off the northstar and squaw rack rates .
Thanks Jack,
I think it may be worth it due to the ease of getting tickets. We'll look at the prices once they start to open up and see what kind of deal it really is.
To everyone else: Robert, myself , and our wives are going to get a condo together. If you want in with us we can get a larger one to accomodate you also . We just want to get it set with in the next week or two so they don't get booked. Let us know and we'd be glad to have you.

I'm thinking of buying a new board this year and joining this group that looks really fun. I was wondering if everyone in the group is pretty advanced out on the snow or is it a mix? Shredfest sounds fun, I'm just not sure I could keep up with everyone. I would be interested in hitting the resorts, not the BC stuff. I'd also probably have my daughter with me, who snowboards, is that an issue? Let me know the ski styles and if it's ok for a newbie to hang out. Thanks.!

Happy in Cali,
Do not even have second thoughts about coming to Shredfest. You and your daughter will have a great time. Like Jack said, there will be 3 snowboarders (including my daughter) coming along with me and my wife, 4 with Jacks son. Last year my wife and a few of the other gals liked going their own speed and even challenged each other on more difficult terrain without the guys watching. Sounds like you would fit right in. I beleive there are at least 3 gals already confirmed as attending.
Keep an eye on this thread for details from Jack as the date approaches.
Shelly & True, hope to see you at Shredfest II.
Hi Happy in Cali,
You would fit right in. My wife was one of the women that stayed in their own group so I could go play with the boys in the trees for a bit. They had a great time. It is a different experience to be around a large group of skiboarders and not be the only ones on the hill. You need to give yourself that experience if you can. Also where are you in Cali ? My wife and I are in The Rancho Cucamonga(Inland Empire ) area and are always looking for others to board with.

Oh and to everyone coming, I found this Snow Bomb Tahoe Card may be a good thing to get as it gets you a free pass to Sugar Bowl, a 10 dollar discount for Alpine Meadows, 14 dollars off for Squaw Valley, and more for $49.00. Here is the site:

Jack since you are from the area, you may know if this is something to look into, or if they ever stop offering it later in the season.

Good find Chad. One thing to note is that the lift tickets need to be purchased on-line to get the discount at many of the resorts. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of to avoid disappointment.

Slow,
Craig has tried my atomic 120's. He had a good time skiing them. He really liked them in some tight trees. He has not tried the real thing though. I don't have a binding that will work for him. He really loves his long skis. I can tell he really likes to pass me on them as they are definitely faster than any of my skiboards. On my forward mounted Hagan though, he can no longer just blow by me. The Sherpa can also keep him at bay with a good coat of fresh wax. I would like to let him try my Hagan's on this trip. The condo is in Truckee about a half mile out of town. It is 2 doors down from the one we rented last year.

have the pleasure of lodging with me, Jack and my buddy Craig. I plan to cook a couple of pretty good meals per Jack's request. He'll do the dishes. Price is $175 for the four nights. I won't need the money until the middle of Jan.

Wendell,
You should PM Matthies. He is on the fence, but would probably take the leap with a good deal.

Check this out...If I can pull it off financially and get the needed time off work, I'm going to do the North Shore resorts at Shredfest II and then fly back in time to drive up to the U.P. for the Midwest Meet. Do you think I'll physically survive?

If you are not in top physical shape before the events, you certainly will be after.
Hope to see you at Shredfest Sempai.

It's official - I will be there as a guest of a very important attendee and some additional guests... that is all I'm saying.
If you are or were on the fence about coming to this - make the decision to join us, you will progress quicker in the few days you spend riding with the other skiboarders than you would have on your own in 2 months of riding.
I am more than happy to take the newbies around and help them become comfortable progressing from Green to Blue, and getting comfortable with speed (which is an important factor in the safety of what we do)
Come - it's gonna be a killer fun time!

I can confirm this. Last year was a blast and I learned a ton.
Last year's event is what really hooked me deeply into the sport.

:) SWEEEEEET Robert!:D
I agree with Robert. I learned so much from watching other skiboarders. There is nothing that compares to riding down a run with a dozen other like minded riders. It takes away the odd man on the hill feeling that you normally feel when you are the only skiboarder on the hill. My wife and I had an amazing time and wouldn't miss this years for anything. I really encourage anyone to attend if you want that close knit group feeling. It really makes posting on here more fun as you get to see
the people you've only typed at before. I know this will be a trip Cindy and I will look forward to every year.
