Martins,

There are a lot of European skiboarders over at

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ski-boarding

but since the owner lost his password the board has gone down hill because of porn spammers. You should get them to come over here.

it's your call dude!

let's do it (aint no reason to not do it)

Tayata
12-17-2003, 06:44 AM
yea, but before you start something like this you should plan a little bit
there should be a team with up to four people who manage the community
also minimum two people should have enough knowledge about webdesgin, programming etc.
a sponsor wouldn't also be bad or another site which supports you (sbol ?)

but, the first question of all is : how many people would visit such a community ? enough so that it will hold up some time ?

Cool Qwaak,

small world. I have family in LU somwehere... they used to be in Kriens, but I forgot where they moved to now. I grew up in Rombach and Küttigen, which is by Aarau.

Anyway, if you're gonna be in the Aletsch-area or at Bettmeralp anytime between Jan 10 and Jan 17, lemme know. :D

Hi guys, I'm also one of those "european skiborder"-thingys.. ;) Here in Sweden everyone (almost) just say they're riding snowblades no matter what brand they have on their boards, which really annoys me..
Still there isn't really much other than salomons here anyway, I have some cheap, lame-ass brand called "Pale" (think it's Austrian or something) but hey, I'm not so hardware-dependant.. :D
To find something other than Salomon you have to be really good, I don't think there is even one pair of "the real stuff"(Line,Canon etc) in all of Sweden... :(

I really hope that Skiboarding grows bigger in Europe, and I mean "real" skiboarding not just little kids riding them like normal skis...

Whoa, this got pretty long, sorry.. :o

hey niklaswik ;) - welcome in the club of the rare european skiboarders :D

so, let me see :
We have Latvia,
Germany,
Italy,
Switzerland
and Sweden.

Not many and also not many close together :/

niklaswik
01-06-2004, 06:05 AM
Yeah not close at all.. :/ And I didn't even know there were any proper mountains in Latvia.. ;)

So.. Any of you that knows any europe-based webshop like skiboards.com that sells skiboardingstuff? 'cause the shipping cost is really high from the US to "over here"...

Dutch Skiboarder here
let's drop a lil story

I've skied years and years but got to know skiboarding 4 years ago, since there are NO mountains in Holland (or should I say the NETHERlands) there's hardly any gear but I was able to buy some shitty salomon buzz 99.9's which I used 1 year. dreaming of Line's (yeah I know they suck now) but not able to order them because of the money including shipping costs. a local skistore, at the indoorskidome got one pair of SBPRO's 2 years ago, I was able to get them a lil cheaper and bought them. I was happy for one vacation but fucked up last year, after some jumps one of the boards just split in 2 dividing the top layer from the bottom.
january 16th I'm going to Val Thorens for a week. I was planning on buying Canons (since I do have some money nowadays) but didn't want to risk getting the boards after going on vacation (shippingtime and stuff) so while going to some shops again looking for a rental, I found a guy who had 10 boxes full of never used 2 year old SBPRO's again for 99 euro's, since renting them costs almost the same in france, I just bought them so I can trash em as much as I want ( I even got a spare one left)

skiboarding here's kinda though, they all call em bigfoots or snowblades, and 99% of people riding them are retarded folk who just can't normally ski, so other skiers or boarders (logically) think I suck too

next year I'll buy some REAL equipment
Salomon should be sued!

shout outs to all the european skiboarders

like skiboards.com ?! damn that hurts. have you looked into the shipping costs of skiboardsonline.com ? i'm not sure but maybe they are lower since we use us global express mail not ups or fedex.

btw, i haven't heard of any european online skiboarding stores.

Ooops, sorry Greco.... :o

Still that was just an example, don't take it too hard.. ;)

I'll check the costs, maybe I'll do some shopping here, but I have some other stuff I need to buy first, and I'm a bit low on money... School doesn't pay very good.. ;)

Hej Niklas! you're damn right - there are NO proper mountains in Latvia. all we have are glens and pits :D:D:D and its all snowparkish. (thats actually another reason why i swithced from skis to skiboards.)
but its mobile era now and i've seen alps, scandinavians, caucasus (not just in pictures :P) and thre is cooperation with russian helliboarding association that reaches as far as kamtcatka.
but whatever... i guess there wouldn't naturally be any europe-based skiboard online shops as long as there is no demand. :( so, now we gotta do what we can - either wait for the sport to expand or buy stuff at local stores (which is salomon/fisher/blizzard/elan), or order it from the states...

hehe, "its all snowparkish" that sounds fun! :)

I just got new skiboots today (Head RR-10) and on saturday I'm going to do the great comeback after almost 2 yrs away from the slopes! :) My local mountain sucks though, but it'll be a lot of fun anyway! They have a few little jumps and one big jump but that'll do anyway... When I feel speedy it takes almost exactly 2 mins to go all the way up and all the way down (1.45 up, 15 secs down :D ) so as you can tell it's not big at all... In week 9 I'll go to the real mountains (we have such in sweden you know... ;) ) in the west for a day, that'll be great fun! :)

Yeah, I guess there isn't very much need for shops like that, but that's what our USE/ESC mission is, to make the european people want real skiboards! And the local ski shop here actually had some almost-real skiboards from Head, they were wide and all but had real ski bindings.. Sick!!

McShane

1.45 up and .15 down - that pretty much sounds like everything here in latvia. so it's not THAT bad afer all :D:D
by the way, i checked out where exactly you're from. i guess years 5 or so ago i was on exchange to soderhamn (which is quite close to you, isn't it) and one day we had a field trip around the county. i remember a resort called Jarvso or smth - is this where you ride?

niklaswik
01-09-2004, 07:48 AM
Hehe.. :D

Yeah, that's close, about 60km away.. :)
Nah, I have never ridden in Järvsö, but I'd really like to, 'cause that's the biggest "skislope-collection" or whatever you should call it in about 200km from me. I ride in Edsbyn, maybe you passed that place to, but it's not very big.
