In Flight (http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/08/in_flight.html)
Just over 100 years since the first sustained and controlled heavier-than-air powered flight, flying machines are now commonplace, used for transport, freight, warfare, rescue and pleasure just for starters. Aerospace technology is still the realm of both big business and entrepreneurs - Moscow recently hosted an airshow in which contracts totaling $10 billion were signed, and Virgin Galactic is still working toward a private spaceliner business. Collected here are recent photographs of various flying machines in action or on display around the world. (40 photos total (http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/08/in_flight.html))

I'm a fan of aircrafts and different flying machines, as I work in the travel industry. A big help is that across the street from our office is one of the largest airshows in the country called EAA. It's hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association and brings in 700-800k people for a week long event from around the world.

This year they showed off the new Airbus A380 that one of the guys in my office described as an apartment complex with wings.

Every year they show off many 'different' flying machines, it's really a neat event and fun to take part in.

The Scarebus eh? Yeah, that thing is huge.

I'm working on my private pilots license right now, and man, some of those things look scary.

11 hours with an instructor, 3 solo takeoff/landings

I wish I had the money to complete my license :(

I have a friend that got his license last year. He is now flying float planes for his families fishing resort in Ontario.
