Yes, it is in South America. It offers access to the largest skiable area in the Southern Hemisphere, more than 800 hectares of skiable area, altitude of 3,025 meters.

You are good! That is correct, heading to Valle Nevado. Flying out on Friday night for two days in Buenos Aires, then one day in Santiago, then 5 days at Valle Nevado before flying back on the evening of the 12th. I'm tempted to try heliskiing since it's not that pricey there compares to other places.

Not going to Portillo, going to be staying in Valle Nevado itself with a group.

Other areas I've gone to in South America is Las Lenas and Bariloche.

Getting to Valle Nevado was surreal... the day we flew into Santiago, there was an avalanche and a mudslide that took out the one and only road to Valle Nevado. We were able to get up there on schedule, but there were 4 fatalities from the mudslide, and we passed the areas affected, saw the damage, saw the cleanup crews, etc...

I notice you are riding the Condors with the Spruce risers ... looks like the snow is pretty firm ... like that set up on that kind of snow ???

I actually prefer the added weight of the Spruces on the Condors. The way the riser works on the Spruce, for me, it adds a bit more stiffness to the Condors, which is what I look for. It works very well. I also had the powder plate in my backpack, but didn't need them.

Didn't go heliskiing as the conditions was all packed powder throughout all the mountains, it wasn't worth it since there weren't any fresh powder available. Even going through areas that were untracked, it was still crunchy hard packed.

During our stay at Valle Nevado, both the US and Canadian ski teams showed up to do a few weeks of training.

Great videos! The conditions look awesome, snow everywhere, no crowds and plenty of room to shred. I'm so freakin' jealous. :mad:

It's a very exclusive resort, so no one else was on skiboards. In fact, all the lift operators and service shops were all interested in them and asked. I even got to talk to some of the people from both the US and Canadian ski teams that wondered about skiboards, they've never seen them before.

This is one of those resorts where if going on the slopes is not your number one priority, you would be bored out of your mind. There are only 4 buildings to the entire resort, two are just hotels, one is a hotel with a restaurant and a bar, and the last is a hotel with 5 restaurants, 6 shops, a huge hot tub the size of a pool, a room to play movies, a room to play Wii, and that's it!
