Last year i rode wearing a Burton White Cosmic jacket. I wear it sometimes as a rain jacket since its just a shell. I noticed it doesnt repel any more.
So, Question:
What do you guys use to re water proof your gear? I've read about nikwax wash-in waterproofings, but since i've never messed with them; i'm hesitant as i dont want to cause it to change colors.
Also,
What do you think about these??

Last year i wore black pants, but i think with the jacket it was too much black. I ride the Trees + the jacket so i've definately got a black/white theme going. Anyone wear white gear and stain it on the slopes?
Afterall, i've got to look good while falling off the rails ;)

Ive Had a Vans jacket that is white been wearing for two years and it is still very much white and stain free. Ive waterproofed it after the first year again with some stuff my dad had in the garage. No problems. No idea what it was called tho.

Here's a great discussion on what you are looking for to waterproof your jacket. Nikwax makes a wash-in type waterproofing:

I have almost the same pants from a few years ago in greyish green -- love all the deep pockets and vents..

I've always stayed away from white outerwear because in the spring the lifts I ride tend to drip nasty black stuff all over.

Check with some of your local laundries/dry cleaners. Some of them now offer clean/re-proof technical clothing for around the cost of buying the stuff yourself, and they do a better job :)

Thanks for the reassurance. I went ahead and tried out the nixwax today and it worked great.
I also received this year's pants.
AK 2L Cyclic (http://www.burton.com/mens-snowboard-pants-ak-2l-cyclic-pant/218524,default,pd.html?dwvar_218524_variationColor =443&start=4&cgid=mens-pants&prefn1=filterFeature&prefv1=Gore-Tex)
I dont know why white isnt listed on the site, but white was what i got. I opted for the AK's because of the gore tex boasting. Hopefully their reputation will live up.

I guess that you probably already know but just in case. ;) :)
Unlike the Field pants (http://www.burton.com/mens-snowboard-pants-burton-field-pant/218532,default,pd.html?dwvar_218532_variationColor =104&start=12&cgid=mens-pants) which you mentioned in your first post in the thread, the AK Cyclic Gore-Tex pants seem to be shell pants and appear not to have any fleece lining at knees and butt. I guess that you'll need to have some sort of microfleece pants to wear under them.
Without the extra microfleece pants layer, you'll freeze when sitting or kneeling but the Gore-Tex will keep you dry. ;)
I used some similar Burton AK Gore-Tex shell pants last season. They're great pants. Though the little metal hook on the snow skirts that fasten onto a snowboarder's boot laces often got caught up in the buckles or power straps on my ski boots when I was pulling off the pants at the end of the day.
I've removed the hooks now as the rubber gripper material at the bottom of the snow skirts holds them down around my boots just fine.

I chose the AK because of the different unhappy reviews i was hearing about their dryride pants. If i planned on just cruising around, i wouldnt be too worried about getting wet, however since i'm determined to get something done at the terrain park, i figured gore tex is a much better option. If you're not falling, you're not learning anything.
Yeah I did figure on wearing something underneath. If you've got something in mind, i'm open to suggestions. otherwise, i'll likely wear a pear of fleece pants.
I didnt have much time to give them a look over, but i did have time to try them on over my boots to make sure i didnt need to send them back. While i cant say for sure until i get on the slopes, the skirts seemed to hold pretty well on their own.
Thanks!

Mavrick, if you're planning on park skiboarding then maybe you should wear body armour under your shell pants rather than microfleece. :D
Then I don't intend to go near the park myself, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. :)

Terrain park is all new to me. Do people wear armor underneath? If so, that would explain why i felt like i was the only one who was actually hurting from the falls off the rails and jumps.

Some do, some don't. It all depends on the rider. Knowing how to fall is another important part of falling in the park and not getting hurt as easily.

I don't ride with pads, just got used to falling.

yeah i wear their coldgear and usually a pair of fleece pants. Warmth isnt a problem.
I was more caught off guard when he mentioned body armor and was invisioning a pressure suit similar to what bikers wear.

Mavrick,
I wear body armor. Tops, bottoms and mini shin. Go Skeletools. Mark turned me onto the stuff and it is the way to go. Mark knows armor. Outer gear wise I essentially have 2 setups. Normally I can be found in Mission Six pants and jacket. Incredible stuff really. My gear is nearing ancient by standards and still won't die. I recommend their stuff. If I know it's going to be wet out I have Download (an off-brand to the best of my knowledge) gear that wouldn't soak through in the shower and layer underneath with wool. Wool stays warm even when wet and unlike synthetics don't have me smelling like a goat with hygiene issues at the end of the day. This is especially true for socks. I make synthetic socks stink so bad I smell myself on the lifts. I've worn wool for 3 straight days and still smelled like an April rain. Love it. This season I'm trying something new for my paws - Pittard leather mitts. My hands sweat like the rest of my body and they often end up cold. Although I've done better since carrying extra cheap, wool inserts with me.
Gee, um, you did ask a question - oh yea - my experience with wash-in waterproofing is not good. But, as someone suggested, Laundry services seem to have the process down. They'll also clean that nasty crap you've been scratching yourself and foofing in for 2 straight years. Ha ha.
I've since found better torso armor then the skeletools, but their shorts are still the best in my mind. I have a full time job and bills, so injuries aren't something I can deal with these days. Call me a pussy if it makes you feel better, several of you have busted on me for it, but I'll continue to use it, I have an air cage pressure suit

Hey man, i'm with you. Insurance is great and all, but it doesnt help trying to work with an injury. i'll start looking into it.

Sheep kinda stink. But just think of what they would smell like if they didn't wear wool every day.
Gratitude.
