is the x like thing on the SnowJam 2003 Extreme II binding a seperate piece?

Yep. It is a "V" with an upsidedown "V" on top of it. The bindings actually say Vissere AX-1 and don't say Snowjam. You can move the binding forward and back by loosening it.
