Hello,

I am buying Revel8 75cm Samurai Skiboards, but I am not sure which bindings to get. I am having a very hard time deciding between the Spruce Pro Jr. Release Bindings, Pro Sport Risers/Bindings, Pro Lite Risers/Bindings or the Bomber 2009 Elite2 Skiboard Non-Release Skiboard Bindings.

Which would be the best set-up for me? I am a Beginner, Female, 37 years old, 5'0, 136#, and 280mm sole length.

I do not like to go really fast, or do tricks or anything. I basically just want to be able to go down some beginner & intermediate ski hills in usually icy (but groomed) conditions at local ski parks (we are in Illinois- I usually go down the beginner/intermediate hills at Chestnut Mountain). I won't be going down any big or steep hills. My biggest concern is being able to stop! LOL!

Should I go with ones with more edge control or a shorter length riser because my skiboards are small? Are Look Exclusive, Salomon, Bomber, or Dynastar Bindings better?

Thank You!
Sherry

You can go with any of the riser systems. I ride the pro jrs and they work just fine for park riding. It all comes down to what you want to spend. LOOK and Dynastar are both owned by Rossignol so niether have any significant changes in construction.

I personally think that you could get away with non release bindings and could go with any, but you would need to ask someone who has ridden nons before, as I have not.

Once you get going, you will learn everything you need to learn pretty quickly stopping being one of the first.

welcome Icurly!

I think a great binding option for you would be the new this year Roxy lite /Spruce riser combo ... it will be plenty of binding for what you want to do , have the safety of a release system , and work well with the Bantams ... Bantams should be loads of fun , and as a beginner you will have the piece of mind of a nice release binding as well. ..

I have a Canon 75cm board and on groomed slopes short 75cm boards are great , feels like skates , totally manuverable and total fun , you should have a blast !

SherryHey Sherry,

I'm originally an Illinoan. I spent many a day at Chestnut. I'll never forget my last time there. It was during an ice storm. There couldn't have been a dozen people there all day. It was madness trying to ski. This is back when I skied and hadn't discovered the wonder of skiboards yet. Before we could leave to go home, we had to scrape about 2 inches of ice off the car windows. It was a crazy day.

I can understand with your size that you want something small, but don't rule out going slightly bigger and getting Tanshos. They are a blast and will give you a bit more stability. They'd also give you a little more board for the riser system to sit on. I agree with JJUE, try the new ROXY Lite system. Skiboards are a blast, and the Spruce riser/binding combos can't be beat. You're in for a massive good time regardless of your choice. Enjoy! :)

Hi Sherry,

Welcome to the forum.

My wife started on 75 cm Snowjams and then went to 90 cm Tanshos, both with the Spruce risers. Although both are well suited for you and your riding conditions, I also suggest that you consider the Tanshos or even the MaryJane's for the added stability when riding through changing snow conditions. Both will provide a more relaxed, less tiring ride, especially if you do not have excellent balance.

Try this test:

No matter which skiboards you go with, you will have a great time.
