some updates for this year:

Jack Frost Mountain staff under the direction of Mark Daubert have been busy clearing out more glades, adding tower guns, replacing snowmaking pipe, and "elevator" work.

Riders this coming winter will be treated to glade expansions on Challenge and Jane's Lane. The glade on skier's right of Challenge has been extended to the East Mountain Lift. Jane's Lane has new glades also on skier's right that go to D Lift. The crews have been busy installing 30 30' tower guns (18 on Jane's Lane) on various slopes including Thunderbolt and Exhibition!

I'll probably try to make it up a couple of times. I've only been to Big Boulder, but I'd like to check out Jack Frost as well.

I'm not sure of the distance between Blue Mountain and JF/BB off the top of my head.

Blue Mountain is decent. The parks can be very hit or miss in my experience, but they also have some interesting runs to ride, including a couple nice long blacks that are great for high speed carving runs.

"Snow Making Starts for the 09-10 Season

December 1, 2009

December got off to a snowy start. At 1am this morning Big Boulder Ski Area, who pioneered snowmaking over 50 years ago, did it again.

The veteran snowcrew laid down a solid base of manmade snow. Expect JFBB to make snow every second we can. Stay tuned for a Big Boulder Opening Day announcement soon!

Keep checking back for up to minute information on our Opening Day!
