we got 80cm of snow and Ill be on my boards the first time this weekend, so its time catch up on you guys; its been some months since I was the last time visiting this board, hehe
I've been riding with some standart non-releasable bindings but I wanted to mount some releaseables mainly out of health-reasons.
so I went down to my local dealer and as expected they didnt have bindings fitting the 4x4 screw pattern.
So I went home and cut some aluminium adapterplates and luckily I found some riser plates in the shop. back in the day the cost 200bucks, but I got them for free since no one uses them anymore.^^
anyway, I mounted them and this is the result:
(looks really stylish in my opinion and will match my salomon SPK's nicely.)
I expect them to be quite aggressive and beasty.^^
what do you think?

They look nice, but make the Revolts look really small. That's the problem with putting releaseables on boards that short; they take up the majority of the boards.
I like the look. Are the risers aluminum? And how high off the boards are they?

at sempai: ur definitely right, what what matters most to me in the end is how they feel to ride, not how they look :)
at slow: yes the adapter plate I made is aluminium (u can see it shine through right in the middle of the ski) and the black riser is made out of a aluminium-bloc as well.
All in all Ill be standing 5cm higher conpared to non-releasables.
What I especially like about the whole thing: I dont loose flex compared to non-releasables. since releasables take at least 10cm more space in length I think thats an issue not to be underestimated on susch short boards.

They aint skiboards............. those are stilts! :) Great for carving and painting ceilings?
Brakes will not do much at that height. May want to go with leashes.
Let us know how they ride.

Looks like they will be holding alot of snow....

brakes go only about 1cm below the boards, they wont be of any use indeed.
Ill extend the brakes if I wanna stay with this set up
filling with snow is to be seen.
ill update you on sunday

Take a roll of duct tape with you to cover the holes. Just in case. ;) :D

The only problem with snow buildup inside there will be making sure they don't get stored wet and making sure you lay them down in a way that the buildup won't sit on your edges when it melts. Not a big problem at all.
I guess you could stick some black gorilla tape over those holes. :p

hey guys, the powder here is so fluffy it wont fill up anyway :)
I am wondering much more how they will feel.
as far as I know there will be much more force to my knees since I'm standing higher.

those riser plates look excatly like what I designed in a CAD program minus the oval holes and half the height
So what are the risers originally for anyway?

I gotta say those look pretty cool! I agree with your stylish assessment. The height will give you lots of leverage on the boards and should make it pretty effortless to get them on edge. They should be fun to ride, and the size and shape actually leave a lot of the graphic visible for a riser / releasable setup.
I wouldn't worry about snow buildup or anything because you can just knock any excess out at the end of the day and make sure to store them so any remaining snow drains out as it melts.
Nice job!

They look really nice to me. I think the added height will really help carving. I'd like to know what the riser is from also. My GF skied with a powder plate on her 120's last Thurs and Friday. She thought the added height made it easier to edge.
