anybody knows if it is gonna rock this summer?

this year i'm planning to go to the states on vacation therefore will not really have a chance to go to any european festivals (rockwerchter.be was awsome last year and would be an option this year too). i'm thinking of vans warped tour and lollapalooza...

any ideas?

those arent too bad, not sure when you'll be here but if you can check out Rolling Rock Town Fair. The main show is held in Pennsylvania in July but last year they had some smaller shows in other places leading up to the main one. It's always a good time with a nice variety of music.

There is always ozzfest 2005...watch for it. Thats always a sick show. Slayer,Megadeth and even Iron maiden and Judas priest are supposed to be playing as well as a shit load of other great bands. It is supposed to be a worldwide show this year.

ozzfest has had one or two gigs set up in europe for past couple of years i guess. but what about lollapalooza? any news?
i'm planning my vacation in first two weeks of august. both vans warped and lollapallooza are acting in il, in, mi, oh around these dates, and i'm gonna be somewhere from chicago to kalamazoo, mi. (probably)

Dunno who's gonna be on Lolla this year, but the show you go to should pretty much hang the the music you like. If you're into the punk/ska/emo/screamo/hardcore types of music, I'd definately suggest the Warped Tour. If you're into heavier stuff and metal, Ozzfest, and if you're into mainstream rock, then Lolla would be your best bet. Personally, I've been to Lolla and wasn't too impressed, but the Warped Tour was just amazing. One thing I like about it is that they have at least 3 or 4 large stages along with 4 or 5 smaller ones. This means that the music never stops between the main stages, and if some band you don't like is playing (glares at NFG, Simple Plan, Sum 42, Blink 182, etc.) you can always go check out the smaller stages and see something good.

dude, i'm pretty sure what vans warped is abaut ;) and yes, i'm into punk, but would appreciate the quality side of mainstream (i.e. what lollapalooza features, last wear i saw metallica, lenny kravitz, moloko, korn, muse, etc. at rockwerchter. good time).
btw, i personally know peter from over it and that's just another reason to choose warped tour, especially if they play on shows i can make to. just for more options, wanted to find out about lollapalooza ;)

Well here you go mcshane. Sounds like a pretty decent line up so far.

The Offspring has officially signed on to perform at the 2005 Vans Warped Tour, Billboard reported Monday.
The tour, in its 11th year, will also feature the Transplants, Thrice, My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy. Dates and venues were expected to be announced in February.

If you're interested in coming back to Rock Werchter, there are yet 2 bands who confirmed that they're coming: R.E.M. and Faithless

Other bands that have a big chance of playing: Front 242, Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, Queens Of The Stone Age, Millionaire, Soulwax, Iron Maiden.
