I am 6'4" and 255lbs and have been skiing for about 20 years. Right now I ski 184cm Rossi's and have no problems on steeps or groomers of any kind. However, last season, I got a nice taste of the glades at Steamboat and started thinking I could have a little more fun in the trees and maybe moguls with skiboards. I have been researching and am concerned whether my weight is an issue. What size should I get? If I have to buy a 120 or a 130 is there really going to be a noticeable difference in performance? Any input would appreciated.
I am 57 and an expert level alpine and telemark skier 6' tall and 190 lbs .
for me moving from 185 and 190 long skis to skiboards has been a total revelation .. I no longer ski my long skis and have tons of funs all over the mountain on skiboards.. To me they are more manuervable and fun in all conditions including powder , glades , moguls and trees. I think a perfect board for your size and what you want to do and coming down from a skier background is the Sherpa 130 , there will be a tremendous difference in manuverablility compared to your Rossis , a whole new way of riding in my book ...

Thank you jjue for your prompt response. That is what I was hoping to hear and the exact skiboard I have been looking at.

I am in much the same position as Jjue and agree totally. At first, you might find skiboards around 100 - 110 cm a little too short given your ski background, but grab a pair of Sherpas and go ride. In a very short time you will find you are riding them differently to skis, more natural, way less input required. try leaving your poles behind. We mostly all ride without poles.
Be prepared for a revelation :)

The Hagan Offlimits is another very good option. This is really a short ski though, not a skiboard. It is also a 130. The turning radius is slightly larger than the Sherpa and Spruce 120. I've skied the Morningside trees at Steamboat on both my Hagans and Spruce 120's..... had a wonderful time. If you can afford the cost go for the Sherpa and a pair of Hagans. The ride is so different, its fun to experience the difference. Your legs will use slightly different muscles and the tired muscles from riding one board will get a rest when you switch to the other board.

I'm 6'1" 220 lbs and the Sherpas are pretty much ideal in terms of an all-around board for me. I agree with jjue that they would be a great choice for you.
Keebo,
I'm very close to your size, (6'4"-230) and will throw in a plug for the 120. I've also ridden the Sherpas...they are a great ride but I find the 120 a bit more nimble and effortless. Wendell is correct about the Hagans being a unique and good choice, unfortunately they are hard to come by and don't come with factory inserts, which is a drawback.
