Ok so i officially was told it was just a sprain now i come to find out that its not a sprain its a fracture, and worst part is ive also done some nerve damage. so im basically finished for the season. the good part is i am allowed to go down hill just no jumps and no rails. I think im gonna cry now.

Sorry to hear that Kelli..that sucks ass.Hopefully they will just splint your wrist since its not a full break. Either way be careful that you don't reinjure it. The only good thing that comes out of broken and fractured bones(well not really good)is that they heal better and stronger then they were before you broke them.

I feel your pain Kelli. Goin' through the same thing myself... Went out to the park last night, first run out I came off a kicker big and cockeye and landed on my hand. I've got three fractured meta-carpals (the bones in the palm of the hand). Got out of surgery a few ours ago with a few screws and a plate in my hand. That's without a doubt the end of my season... Is it sad that I'm already back on the forum?

My girlfriend tore her miniscus, sprained the knee cap, and bruised some legiments in an incident better not repeated about 3 months ago. she theoritically shouldn't be riding, but she went to park city in january, and just went to mountain creek with me last weekend. tough girl....

Sorry to hear that Kelli. But believe me, I feel your pain. Back in October 2003, at one of my band's shows, me and my bandmates got a moshpit going for a band that we were friends with that was up on stage at the time. I got shoved over hard and landed on my left wrist on a hardwood floor. And this was right before we were about to go on. I thought I had just strained or sprained it, so I went up on stage anyway and played through our whole half hour set. It hurt like hell, but I made it through somehow.
The next morning, it was still hurting pretty bad, so I went to the ER to get it checked. The X-Ray was inconclusive, so they put me in a wrist brace and put me on light duty at work. In a lumberyard, there really is no "light" duty, so my boss put me on unpaid sick leave status. It turned out to be a fracture and I had to get casted and ended up being out of work for 3 months. It had finally healed, and I returned to work. I was back to full duty for about a month. Then, one snowy day, I had to go on delivery. A coworker was with me to help me out and we got the flatbed stuck in the guy's driveway. I stood on the trailer hitch to put some weight on the back. Truck jerked and I fell off (and almost got run over). Worst part was, I broke my wrist again. Same place.
Ended up having to get recasted and got put on light duty at work for about 5 months while it healed...washing shelves, doing inventory, any miserable job they could find. I almost went insane. And through all that, I also had to go round 'n round with the workers comp people to add to the stress.
The moral of the story? If you know it's a fracture, take good care of it. And even after its healed, for a while, don't take any chances with it. I don't know if you fractured the same bone I did, but I fractured the worst one possible. I stood the chance that, if it didn't heal properly, I could have lost circulation to my thumb. I dodged that bullet twice. So just keep your head up, take care of yourself, and don't do anything stupid. If I can learn to play bass with a cast on my wrist, you can definately make it through the rest of the season and keep your feet on the ground, right? Take care. Hope this helps some.

I think I may have just joined you all in partially ruining at least part of the season by severly tweaking (possibly sprained, just did it today and I'm gonna wait a few days before goin to a doc) my wrist today. It was a total fluke accident off of a tiny kicker into some powder, but I sunk into the powder on the landing, fell forward, my hand packed the powder, sunk into my wrist, and my body kept moving. Worst part (or maybe best depeding on if I would have hurt myself after) was that I had just gotten the courage up to jump off of a face that depending on how far out you landed was between 7-15 feet. Just did this today so don't know for sure if it's sprained or if I just tweaked it really hard, but either way, landing on it again in the next month or 2 is gonna hurt like none other.

Add me to the list of out for the rest of the season (what's left of it anyhow). Centerline terrain park at snowshoe yesterday (I forgot it's name). 2nd jump from the beginning of the park. Dropped, hit it (4th time that day) and not sure after that. Either way, I landed right shoulder forward and dislocated it. Got the fun ride down in the tobboggan, accompanied ride up Grabhammer lift and then 1000 yards tow to the Shavers Center to get it popped back in. I think I was in much better shape than the poor kid getting flown via helicopter with a spinal injury (he was just leaving while I was going in.
I'm slung now and icing. Hopefully I'll be back up and running in a week to 10 days...but I think my season is probably done. Hell, it took me almost an hour to write this left handed...lol.

Damn, it seems like a lot of people are getting injured this season. I just got back a couple weeks ago from being out for 2 months with a broken collar bone. I was doing a 270 off about a 5 foot high rail, over shot the transition and landed skiboards then shoulder. But it's nice and strong now, I have a titanium plate and 7 screws in there.
