Mt.
Creek, New Jersey Feb. 14th & 15th 2004
We
arrived at Mtn. Creek with an arsenal of the best pro's and the
sickest am's, a $3,500
camera,
super 8 cameras, a 30 foot motor home, a Lincoln Continental and
a whole bunch of shwag. This would prove to be an exciting weekend.
Ethan Mitchell, Adam & Dave Lynam, Greco, Dean Kistler, The
Ponessa Clan with "Butters", Ron Buckner and myself
(Ben Wannamaker) were all present for the 2nd annual Bentfilms
pro/am at Mountain Creek in Noo Joisey on Valentines Day weekend.
We arrived on Thursday night and were riding and competing on
Friday, and riding and shooting on Saturday. Before I get right
into it, let me say one thing. No one has any idea how good Ethan
Mitchell is! This kid has more balls out 'giver'ness' then i've
ever seen. When he rides, he brings an arsenal of tricks so large,
it rivals that of the Brinton days of yore.
Friday
began on a great note, big Lynam and Ethan were shredding, 270's
on, switch ups and the like... were being tossed in the morning,
and Ethan tossed some rodeo's on a big 40 footer at the south
side of Mountain creek.
Once
we got some shots, and got used to the boards under our feet,
we began the contest. The chosen obstacle was a 20 foot trapezoid
box. Once we began sessioning, it was pretty much over with...
disasters, switch disasters, switchups, and launches were common
on the box. Adam was nailing a switch on, disaster switchup over
the gap, and ethan was hauling into 270 safetys off the upslope
to flat. Dave Lynam, Ron Buckner and the Ponessa's were sliding
like champs. Dave even worked a makio into his trick.
When
it all came down to it, I took first, Ethan second, and Adam third.
It was the tightest jib contest i'd ever seen on skiboards, it
was so close between the three pros, it should have been a three
way tie.
After
the contest, we headed back to the RV for the awards. Snowcountry
in Rochester NY hooked us up with some shwag for the crew, and
the am's were lovin' it.
The
next day was very relaxed, Paul Recalde and Kirk Thompson showed
up to shoot and ride respectively. Kirk killed every rail he hit,
and Paul was shooting some photos.By the end of the day, there
were some beats brought to there knees, and some tricks that no
one has seen before. For all the documentation of the trip, check
out BentFilms' '04 release, White Dwarf, due out in September.
We
would like to thank Skiboardsonline.com,
