Unless you want a sick ass set of boards that take whatever you throw at them.
So after two days on the ALP’s I can honestly say I have no buyer’s remorse. I was a little shaky at first yesterday because they feel more like skis than the BG pro’s I’ve been riding the past few years. I come to this sport from inline skating, not skiing, so that extra 11cm really takes some adjusting if you’re not a skier. These sticks are rock solid. Conditions at Jay the past few days were mixed so it was a good test ground for the boards. Some light powder with a hard base and lots of icy spots. I got ‘em tuned and the edges nice and sharp and had no problems. I took them into the trees a little today and they handled beautifully. As I said, the length takes some getting used to, but the ride was great. The woods had a few inches of powder with a hard/soft ice pack underneath and the boards took it all with grace. Open trails were groomed to hard pack and some fresh powder. I was always able to keep up with snowboarders and skiers on the BG's, but the ALP’s allow you to blow by most people in full control with no chatter. One problem I always had with the BG’s was the extra wide tip that is great in the woods but catches as you carve hard on the trails. No issue here with the ALP’s! I was able to carve really tight turns on the groomers without the tips shaking the ride.
Well I could go on and on but I’ll stop here. These boards performed just as described by everyone else. I would say to anyone who is more of an inline skater, you may want to stay shorter, but if you need to go faster without the chatter, GET THESE BOARDS! They’re the Cadillac of skiboards. At least for now. ;)

Anytime you're hitting Jay let me know. I live a few miles away and I'm there all the time. Unless my kids are sick of course. Let me know when you plan on the woods excursion and I'll do my best to make it. Best part of that hill is the open woods policy.

We finally got a decent dumping of 9" up here yesterday to cover up the ice skating rink Jay Peak has been. Conditions were still pretty mixed and the woods will be a deathtrap until we get another good blast but most of the hill had a good amount of pow. Got to take the ALP's out and I have to just say, again, what a sweet ride it is. I've become more comfortable with the extra length after just carving with them a few days so with the condition of the snow yesterday I decided it was time to see the speed difference. These sticks handle so well at high speeds it's scary. No chatter at all. The only thing keeping me from going faster was the shitty wax job I had done that worked for like three runs. I opened it up on one groomer and was blowing by other skiers and riders with no worries. As my friend on his snowboard said at the end of that run - "I couldn't have caught up to you if I wanted to". They also handled beautifully in the powder. At first I was apprehensive to drive through the powder but after a few hits I was all set. These things blasted every bit of the freshies they hit. Bottom line, I'm sure it really sucks if you're still waiting on these boards, but it is honestly worth the wait. So thanks again to all you people who helped get these boards under my feet. You know who you are!

No problem Adam. They're a great product and I don't mind supporting them. As for your move, welcome to VT! Drop me an email with a day and I'll try to make it. I have two young daughters so I just have to make sure the critters are tended to before I can go. Best time to go is during the week. Next week is a holiday so there will actually be a line at the lift, but after that, weekday skiing is where it's at. Ride right to the chair almost every run.

36 inches! of new powder overnight here in Vegas Ski and SnowBoard Resort. Put my new ALP's to the test on deep glade powder and they were great! The jumps in the park were ungroomed but the little bit extra from the ALP's made landings a breeze. Lots of comments from even boarders who were impressed by the looks of these boards. Only problem is that one edge that looks like it may have started to delaminate. Im not worried as the included Mix warranty made it clear that they back their products. Nice job Mix and Adam!

So the woods up here at Jay are finally coming back on line after the 50 degree and rainy days we've had scattered throughout the winter. I think the dimensions of the BWP's would be better in the woods but the ALP's killed in the woods today. If any of you woods ski you probably have felt the roller coaster like ride you get through dense woods. You basically let the woods tell you where to go and you stop when they tell you its ok to. The BG’s rule in this environment and I’m sure the BWP’s will too, but the ALP’s hugged every contour, blasted through knee deep drifts, handled frozen granular rocks the size of softballs, turned on a dime, squeezed through the tightest openings and landed solidly from every involuntary launch the woods decides to throw your way. I did however get punched in the face by the ground after my body decided to continue down the mountain after the boards decided to stop. At least my buddy got to see it. Apparently it was quite spectacular. I've taken some good diggers in the woods so far with the Bombers and if you have strong legs, you should be all set with non-release. Of course that's just my opinion and I take no legal responsibility for any mishaps. Terrain parks are open here too. They have a “beginner” park and two mini jump ramps and three rails. At the expert park there’s a bunch of shaped rails and bigger jumps set up. Still waiting on my health insurance to renew so I’m all set there, but it looks like fun. So one thing though. The screws on my bindings need to be tightened more often than other boards I’ve owned. Should I just put some Teflon tape on the screw or is this a sign of anything else?

you have bombers on them right? me too and they've never loosened up. i use the t handle wrench to make them super tight though. you really have to tighten the 4 screws down on all skiboard bindings if they are loosening up on you. i noticed at hood a couple of the riders were having their bindings loosen up and after they re-tightened them i checked them and they weren't anywhere near as tight at they needed to be. so put some elbow in them when you tighten them and yeah teflon tape or loc-tite should work if the monster tightening thing doesn't.

The Bombers are coming loose over the course of the day. I don't feel them coming off while riding or anything. It's just that I have to tighten them every time before I go out. I haven't had to tighten the Bombers as much on other boards. I don’t think it’s affecting the performance, I just wanted to make sure it’s not a sign of something about to happen. The idea of hiking out of the woods with just boots on doesn’t seem like as much fun for some reason.

i experienced the same thing with one set of bombers last year. i took the whole binding off and checked for cracks or defects. finding none i put it all back on and really cranked the screws. they haven't come loose since. this happened on my M7's ... the bomber's on my journey's have never come loose.
